I have just installed damnsmalllinux on one of my computers.

I have also installed the var/dpkg directory from the package
dpkg.tar.gz

I was hoping to get a list of debian packages available for download,
since damnsmalllinux is based on debian.

However, when I run dselect, and select option 0 to select the access
method, I get an error:

dselect: no access methods available.

How do I fix this so that I can install debian packages on this system
?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help

The methods seem to be stored in /usr/lib/dpkg/methods. I don't have

damnsmall linux, just a regular Debian testing system, but I've been
meaning to look into it.
