Quick question (hope it's quick anyway) Do I need to download and install
everything in current to get KDE 4.1 running on 12.1?

No, that would be extremely bad. -Current is the next release. This
means a lot of the stuff is recompiled against different/newer libs.
Installing the packages from -current on 12.1 could lead to serious
borkeness on your behalf. Considering the ammount of changes that
have taken place in -current, I think you have two options:

a) Upgrade all to -current, *then* upgrade to KDE4 from testing.
b) Download all the sources from testing and complile all of KDE4
and compile everything by hand.

YMMV

Thanks for the reply. I'll probably wait for the next release.
