Is there a Clipboard Manager (such as M8 clips -
http://m8software.com/clipboards/freeclip/freeclip.htm, or other
similar ones) for Linux? (am using openSUSE 11.0, but this is an
application needed for other distros as well).

klipper (included with KDE) or klipboard?

I use gnome as default desktop. Is it possible to run klipper in
gnome? (Have installed the KDE 3.x base libs, but can't seem to find
'klipper' anywhere).

Yes

Here is what I find:

[05:51:27][J:0][sinner@/boot/grub]$ apt-file search klipper | grep bin
kdebase-dbg: /usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/klipper
kdebase-workspace-dbg: /usr/lib/debug/usr/lib/kde4/bin/klipper
klipper: /usr/bin/klipper
klipper-kde4: /usr/lib/kde4/bin/klipper

Can you not install the klipper package from the suse repositories?

Typically, yes. However, Gnome has one call glipper:

A clipboard manager for GNOME and other window managers Enables multiple
virtual clipboards in Gnome and other window managers that support tray
icons. Click the tray icon to select from a list of previous clipboard
entries. Supports a configurable number and length of clipboard entries
and saving clipboard history on exit.

and http://glipper.sourceforge.net/

About

Glipper is a clipboardmanager for the GNOME Panel. It maintains a
history of text copied to the clipboard from which you can choose. You
can see this as a GNOME counterpart to KDE's Klipper.

Glipper uses plugins to give the user all the extra functionality they
want, including support for Actions, Snippets and No-Paste services.

Yes you can use klipper in gnome but glipper works better in gnome.

You left off the writer's attributes to whom you are making inquiry, but
I made a like post; I will assume it is me you are addressing: I dunno
know for I do not use the application. I merely did the research trying
to assist you and offer ideas for you to follow up. This is also a good
place for you to research: http://oakroadsystems.com/genl/unice.htm

Ok. Thanks. Will go through the website. Also, for bearing up with me,
as I'm new to Usenet & newsgroups...have mainly used online forums
till now.
It seems many subscribers do not like to view/ignore posts made on
Usenet Groups through Googlegroups; so I hope to be able to install &
configure a newsreader to access/post to Usenet.

When you do this you will need a NNTP host to which you can connect for
receive and send. I recommend motzarella.org and use it myself as well. Unless
of course your ISP provides a NNTP server.
