problem with gparted

Hello.

When I try to use gparted (booting from the gparted CD), everytime
eventually the screen switches to a resolution that the monitor can't
display and the screen goes blank with an error msg from the monitor.
Does anyone know how to circumvent this problem?

I'm trying the latest version of gparted (the iso version burned to a
bootable cd) on a HP Pavilion m9351.
