Wow. What a garbled definition.

Neither. Basically, it is a unit of quantity or measure.

I didn't understand any of it...
But I'm sure it's good movie :)

In classical physics various quantities ( energy, momentum, andular
momentum,...) could be found in continuous amounts. In quantum mechanics in
certian situations, these quantities can come in discrete amounts. The
energy of an electron in an atom for example can occur only in certain
discrete values. They are not neccisarily equally spaced, but are discrete.
In other situations they can take continous values. That discreteness is
called "coming in quanta" and this has been taken over into popular
language as defining an irreducible piece of something. Thus quantum of
solace would say that Solace comes in discrete pieces, and this is one of
them.
The theory which predicts this behaviour of matter is called quantum
mechanics. The conflict between continuity and discreteness is often called
the wave (continuous) particle (discreteness) duality.
So, quantum is closer to discrete, and thus would be closer to particle. |

I am afraid not. That whole article needs to be rewritten, not just the
first paragraph, and I do not
have the time for it-- I have my research papers to write first.
