|
Hi,
I have Slackware 12.1 with PV's kernel and configurations; now I
bought the SCX-4500 Samsung scanner and laser printer.
_Printer_:
setup with Samsung CD original software does not finish correctly;
thus I am not able to add printer in Unified Driver Configurator
installed in /opt/; anyway configuration printer in CUPS works.
_Scanner_
I have trouble with scanner; it works as root (scanimage and xsane)
but applications executed by normal user return "Segmentation
fault".
Scanning with Unified Driver Configurator provided by Samsung works,
but this application is poor; I want to scan with all linux
applications :-(
My system stuff:
# uname -a
Linux polifemo 2.6.24.5-smp #2 SMP Wed Apr 30 13:41:38 CDT 2008 i686
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
# lsusb
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 04e8:3426 Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd
# scanimage -L
device `smfp:SAMSUNG SCX-4500 Series on USB:0' is a SAMSUNG SCX-4500
Series on USB:0 Flatbed Scanner
# ls /var/log/packages/sane*
/var/log/packages/sane-1.0.19-i486-2
Have you any idea about bug fix ?
Thanks

Segfaults are a bitch. Not that this is a solution but when happens if
you do `chmod +s' on the executables? You know, and then run them as a
regular user... |
