Apparently, you feel obligated to piss into the wind and call it rain. Do
you have anything to say that doesn't require a towel?

Too bad he's not around. Anyone who has a bunch of assholes like you for

This is just too funny, using an alter ego to praise oneself.

"Sid Vicious"?

And all this time, I kept thinking about "The Who", as in "The Who Sell
Out".

Modquote anyone?

"Modquote" shouldn't be the attic for insults or the archive for trolls.

Why not? Why changed a good system?

Trolls should be ignored, not archived. And comments to troll postings
are mostly off topic - nothing to archive.

And that is a comment on a comment on a comment on a troll-posting......

Perhaps you need to take you own advice?

PostPosted: Fri Nov 07, 2008 11:10 pm    Post subject: sendmail on Sla[ckware|md64] for getting mail? Reply with quote

Sendmail is/was easy to set up with fetchmail (IIRC it needs sendmail or
something,) etc., on NetBSD, but after returning to Slackware it seems
impossible. Standard sendmail.conf configure not for most computers:
but servers. I recommend reading sendmail instructions up to about
NetBSD 3--docs were much more complete and clear any Linux or other ones
I had seen last.

TLDP has grown, but several to 10 years ago some excellent (almost
obsolete) texts were removed that were better than many... TLDP may
documents sendmail alright now, but maybe no better than
_The_Complete_Linux_Reference_ 1st. ed., which describes it not enough
for PCs--neither do TLDP docs from then until a year or 2 ago, and
learning by reading sendmail.org is like trying to do specific
algorithms from a textbook that is almost all BNF.

Could anyone recommend a good doc/howto, website, even recent post here
about using sendmail to get your email on PC? (with POP daemons--I think
sendmail will itself, which is very complicated.)

--David

PS. My 'Subject:' has a regexp (regular expression \:\) I mostly use
Slamd64.

Uh Oh!? if you think POP is managed by sendmail you have here a major trouble
and if it was inducted by those "missing docs", no wonder they were
terminated ;-)

Have the sendmail-cf package installed and pick that .mc file
to get a good start:
/usr/share/sendmail/cf/cf/sendmail-slackware.mc
if you don't know what (it is|to do) then read the:
/usr/share/sendmail/cf/cf/README

(that .mc file's prolly what you already have but the -cf pkg will
at least cleanse your previous tests and addup good files to read)

As for Sendmail in full you'll find most answers to your questions
in the usual file:
/usr/share/sendmail/cf/README

and if nothing's clear enough yet in your sendmail settings there's an
excellent group dedicated to it Wink comp.mail.sendmail
but chisel a bit your post there to get best results, essentially
describe 'what you have, what you think you need what you tried
and what makes you think it doesn't work' ;-)

nice try, it probably should read 'Sla(ckware|md64)' unless you mean you're
using distros possibly named "Slammed4wacked4reward666"?-)
