|
|
I have open suse 11.0 using KDE 3.5 installed on a Intel Pentium 4
box. The openSUSE Updater doesn't appear to download or install
upgrades or patches.
The desktop panel icon shows red; clicking on icon -> displays the
update/patch panel; clicking on Install and the panel disappears and
no updates/patches are made.
ps shows:
1 S 1000 3466 1 0 80 0 - 15028 select ? 00:00:03
opensuseupdater
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Bruce

Bruce,
Have you configured and checked your software repositories to make
certain they can be reached?

Yes. Have up-dated repositories as well as having installed some
additional programs, using Yast, so believe that is not a problem.

Further to the problem. Yesterday I opened YAST and searched for
"YAST2", an update for which was one of the update packages not
installed by the update program. Found literally hundreds of packages
the majority of which were not loaded. Went through them and selected
what seemed to apply to my installation and installed them.
Apparently one of these packages was the problem as this morning I
found that the updates had been downloaded and installed.
Rather strange, I thought, as when I installed SUSe on this machine I
did the default installation , but apparently the packages necessary
to do automate updates were not installed.
