My kids have recently started playing games via fashiongames247.com on
the family's main computer. We decided to build a computer just for the
kids, which I did. I loaded that computer with Mandriva 2008.0 and it
works fine. Except, that the games from that website no longer will
play. They open up a new window in Firefox just fine, but the window is
empty. The computer that works is a Mandriva 2007.0 machine, also
running Firefox. The cake decorating game works, for instance, on the
2007 machine, but loads into a empty Firefox window on the 2008 machine.

What could I be missing which could cause this? Any troubleshooting
pointers are appreciated.

Thanks....

What are the games based on? Java? Flash?

You need Flash Plugin. Because of licencing issues, the Flash Plugin
is not distributed by any of the Linux distros, so a basic (cold)
install won't have it installed. You need to download it from Adobe
and install it manually. I suspect that somewhere along the way you
downloaded and installed Flash Plugin on your family's main computer and
so the flash-based games work there.

Adobe has a yum repository with Flash Plugin and other free Adobe Linux
packages (Adobe's PDF Reader). This lets you get updates automagically
via 'yum update'.

I'll try the Adobe site. I had a Flash Player installed with the
PowerPack installation. I tried the PLF flash player too. Neither one
works.

Kevin the Drummer, are you the same person who multi-posted
the same question in alt.os.linux.mandriva? Please read up
on why multi-posting is such an anti-social thing. Properly
done, cross-posting is not as bad.

How can I tell? I've got both Java and Flash installed.
