Hey. I am using Mozilla and I have recently upgraded to Debian Lenny.
Previously when I visited a website containing video content, such as
YouTube, or some others, I would get an error saying that I needed to
install Adobe flash player.

However, now I have upgraded to Debian Lenny, websites with video content
are working through the open source swfdec-mozilla plugin library, so the
proprietary flash player is no longer needed. That is cool.

Hurray to open source!

Mark.

I wish the same was true of Ubuntu Intrepid.

Hmmm, the decoder is there in Ubuntu, but it looks like an older
version. You could download the source package from Debian and try
building it. (Try version 0.8.2-1 from Debian Unstable).

Regards,

Mark.

We I started building but it means building a whole bunch of newer
versions of installed packages.

I'll just wait to see if the problems with Adobe's version is ever
solved on Intrepid. I assume I'll get sick of this and try again.

Thanks for the advice.
