Not that I want to run windows, but I have some things I have to do with it.
I currently have it dual booting using a separate /boot partition with
openSUSE 11.0 and XP, and with xen installed and booted from it.
Yast will not let me create any kind of non SUSE/Novell virtual machine.
It has the option for Windows after selecting type of install but it will
not give any parameters the way it does for all versions of SUSE.
This also applies to Netware, Other, RedHat, and Solaris -
It's only able to install a version of SUSE or Open Enterprise Server.
What is it missing? It appears as if there is a definition file that is not
accessable or it is not finding.
The hardware is AMD Athelon 64 X2 dual core with 4G of RAM, and with 2 empty
12G partitions to work with and softlinked from /var/lib/xen/images/ ...
It also, even with SUSE, can only install a virtual with a new install from
the DVD. If virtualize from an installed version, it cannot find the
kernel, even after pointing it at /boot/grub/

Is there an option for virtualization in the BIOS setup? Which kernel is
booted for the SuSE virtual machines?
I had no issues installing and running Windows XP with SLED as dom0 and
with an Intel E8200. If it is just for the occasional boot I might try
Virtualbox as an alternative.

Not all CPUs from this family support AMD-V, see

There is an option in the BIOS that has been enabled the whole time.
The CPU is one that has AMD-V in it.
It is able to make a version of SUSE as a virtual machine, but just not
other Linux distros or Windows.

OK, this should be fine.

This is why I asked which kernel is loaded on the virtual machines.

It has been booted from the xen listing in grub each time I have tried it.
kernel /xen.gz
module /vmlinuz-2.6.25.18-0.2-xen

So you use the special Xen kernel. Next step could be trying another
Linux distribution with a Xen kernel. And/or getting an evaluation
version of SLES and trying that. At least that works here without major
issues.

I am now trying out VirtualBox.
My first attempt was with openSUSE 11.1 Beta 5.1 64 bit but that would not
recognize CD/DVD. VirtualBox would let me get to the point of reading the
CD/DVD.
Now going back to 11.0 32 bit DVD and working with it, with another drive
partitioned with 25G as '/'. The others I had to do a soft link to get the
space the virtual os drives.
