If MS Windows is so lame then why is it the most popular OS ON THE
PLANET!? And the easiest to use I might add.
Well Sir Top-poster, winblows is easier to use because it was
designed from scratch to be an insecure system. Winblows XP may
have some some home grown concept of security - I don't know - I've
never used it. Never will.
XP is a pretty good OS. Far more secure, in my opinion, than previous
versions of Windows.
And this is a reason to use XP? Honestly, would it have been possible
to make it any less secure?

Yet that is *precisely* what they did.
From a Windows security site:
After all of the trouble the personal computer industry has had
with Microsoft's original Windows NetBIOS ports 137 through 139,
it is difficult to imagine or believe that Microsoft could have
actually made things significantly worse with their replacement
port 445 . . . but they did. [...]
As you might imagine, malicious hackers have been having a field
day scanning for port 445, then easily and remotely commandeering
Windows machines.

USB works perfectly on Linux and has done for quite some time. Operator
error maybe?

I've posted help queries on this forum to no avail. It seems to be a
known issue with the RS482 chipset my motherboard is based on. If you
could shed any light on the problem then please help!! |
