Well Sir Top-poster, winblows is easier to use because it was designed
from scratch to be an insecure system. Winblows XP may have some some
home grown concept of security - I don't know - I've never used it. Never
will.

from scratch to be an insecure system. Winblows XP may have some some

XP is a pretty good OS. Far more secure, in my opinion, than previous
versions of Windows. With all the hardware support, it is easier to
install than Linux if you have slightly exotic hardware. Don't get me
wrong, I love Linux, but simple little things like my USB not working
at all on my new computer are going to dissuade possible converts from
switching from Windows. |

to go on with SUSe Linux 10.0 because I like it...

So how is M$ doing with their 64-bit software? And 64-bit drivers to
run all your peripherals? 64-bit hardware has been available for well
over two years now, it's about time M$ started supporting it properly!
Oh yeah, don't tell me, the long awaited Vista will support it.... at
least three years late....
I installed SUSE 10.1 64-bit on a fairly exotic box recently and
everything installed without a single show-stopper. And I didn't have
to dig into a terminal window once! And to be honest, I found the whole
process easier than installing XP. Installing XP on a S-ATA drive which
is fairly standard hardware these days is a nightmare when you have to
start supplying drivers to the install routine, especially as the
install routine is not very intuitive. Give a newbie a box with a S-ATA
drive and ask them to install XP, then get them to install Linux and ask
them which was easier!

USB works perfectly on Linux and has done for quite some time. Operator
